La caja reúne décadas de apariciones en televisión y saldrá al mercado el 24 de noviembre
Puede que R.E.M. se separaran, pero el 2014 está siendo un año muy fructífero para la banda, que acaba de anunciar otro box set: REMTV. La caja, que contiene seis DVDs, reúne décadas de apariciones en televisión, con grabaciones de actuaciones seleccionadas de conciertos, programas de premios, su inclusión en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame y las apariciones en televisión desde 1983 a 2007. Contiene también las grabaciones del MTV Unplugged entre 1991 y 2001 – que se publicó en CD este mismo año bajo el nombre de Unplugged: The Complete 1991 y 2001 sessions - y el show de 1998 VH1 Storytellers, con nuevas tomas inéditas.
La banda ha dedicado tres discos a actuaciones en directo desde mediados de los noventa a finales de los 2000, incluyendo dos conciertos gratuitos que fueron grabados para emitir en Colonia en 2001 y en Atenas en el 2008. Ambos shows están incluidos en esta compilación y contienen más de una docena de canciones inéditas.
La colección también contiene un documental acerca de la banda - R.E.M. by MTV – que traza la evolución tanto de la banda como de la cadena en paralelo.
REMTV estará disponible el 24 de noviembre, pero ya se puede hacer la reserva por adelantado en la página web de la banda. Las reservas incluyen una descarga de gratificación inmediata de la actuación MTV Sonic de la banda en Milan en el 2001.
Previamente este mismo año, la banda publicó dos colecciones con curiosidades de sus inicios en I.R.S. Records en los ochenta y del resto de su carrera con Warner Bros. Entre los dos lanzamientos, la banda ofreció más de 150 discos difíciles de encontrar.
